The end of 2G is drawing ever closer. In January 2021, Swisscom already began to remove the last remaining 2G antennas from the network and finally switched off the 2G technology in mid-April 2021.
At the beginning of 2023, the last 2G antennas from Sunrise will also be definitively switched off.
In the meantime, the majority of private and B2B customers are equipped with 3G/4G-capable devices and can therefore benefit from the new technologies. Sunrise already covers over 95% of the Swiss territory with 4G and over 99.9% of the Swiss population with 3G/4G. As of February 2021, Sunrise already supplies 713 cities/towns across Switzerland with 5G.
We therefore recommend that you gradually replace all 2G-capable devices/modules with 3G/4G/5G-capable devices/modules. With our subscriptions, you even have 5G included. You can find more information here: Is 5G supported?
