Security Advice for RouterOS

Please set up basic settings to protect your device from unauthorized access.
Update your device to the latest RouterOS

Step-by-step instructions
1. Change the default username
2. Go to System>Users
3. Click + to add a new user
4. Enter the name and set the access rights in group
5. Enter a secure password
6. Click OK and activate the user
7. Deactivate the default user: admin
8. Close the Winbox and log in with the new username

We recommend limiting access to one IP address:

1. Go to IP>Services;
2. Double-click on the Winbox line
3. Enter the local IP address of your computer or a range in the Available from "" field
4. Click OK
5. The system will allow Winbox only for the named IP address
6. You can disable services that you do not use, for example SSH and telnet.
