Are you planning to bring your existing phone number over to us from your current mobile provider? Here's how to proceed so that the transfer goes smoothly.
Important for number porting:
- Cancellation:
It's good to know that you don't need to cancel with your current mobile provider. We'll take care of that for you! So if you'd like to switch, it's important that you do not cancel with your current mobile provider. The request for number porting/cancellation doesn't begin with your cancellation, but with the completed registration with us. - Notice period:
In principle, you can also leave your current mobile provider before the end of your subscription contract (early contract termination). However, your current mobile provider may charge you a penalty fee for not complying with the contract terms. We therefore recommend checking your contract terms in advance. If you're not sure, we recommend selecting "End of contract term" as the cancellation type. - Prepaid phone numbers:
Please confirm the porting after registering with us by sending an SMS with the content "JA" to the number 499, from the number to be ported. You can send this SMS even if there's no more credit on your prepaid card. If you're unable to send the SMS, you can contact your current mobile provider, who can also carry out the cancellation manually for you. - Swiss phone numbers/landline numbers:
Please note that we can only port Swiss phone numbers from Swiss mobile providers. Unfortunately, we cannot port foreign numbers or landline numbers.
Requirements
In order to order and activate a physical SIM card, you must meet the following criteria.
- You have a Swiss delivery address. (Required for delivery, but not for activation)
- You have a device that is SIM-compatible and supports at least the 4G/5G mobile standard.
- You have a valid ID document for digital identity verification. (Why do I need to complete verification?)
The process is identical for new and existing customers and consists of two phases: first, the order, then activation in the customer portal once you've received the physical SIM card by post.
Step 1: Order on the website
- Go to our website: digitalrepublic.ch
- Select your desired rate plan or subscription. You can change this at any time after activation.
- Add the item to your shopping cart.
- Now select whether you'd like a new phone number or would like to bring your existing phone number with you. This information initially only serves as a placeholder for the later activation of your physical SIM card – the actual porting is only triggered in Step 2 (Activation).
- Complete the order. If you don't yet have a customer account, one will be created for you as part of the order. You'll receive an email with a login link to set a password.
- After successful completion, you'll receive an order confirmation by email (please also check your spam folder). Your SIM card will then be sent to you by post.
Step 2: Activation upon receipt of the SIM card
Once you've received your physical SIM card by post, you can activate it using the account you created or used when placing the order.
- Log in to your customer account at connect.digitalrepublic.ch
- In the Cockpit, you should already see your SIM card under "To activate" — select it.
- Enter your SIM card number and your PUK code. Make sure you enter the numbers correctly. (Where can I find the SIM number (ICCID number)?)
- In the next step, confirm the actual number porting, if you indicated during the order that you'd like to bring your existing phone number with you.
- Then enter the porting details:
- Previous phone number
- Previous provider
- Contract type
- Desired type of contract termination with the previous provider
- Click "Next" to complete the checkout and request the porting.
- Important note for new customers: The porting request will only be sent once digital identity verification (ID verification) has been successfully completed. If you haven't yet completed verification, follow the instructions in the customer portal to do so.
- Once everything is ready, you'll receive a confirmation email from us.
Important:
Please note that we have no influence over the cancellation date/start date.
This is determined by your current mobile provider based on your current contract.
